Anglican bishop of Caledonia. Prior to his appointment as bishop in 1879, Ridley served in Peshawar and Afghanistan, 1866-1869, in Dresden, 1869-1872, and in England, 1874-1879. He is the author of a grammar of the Tsimshian language, and of translations of the Book of Common Prayer and the New Testament into that language.
